Piercing Aftercare & Healing Process
Safe, clean, and stylish — we help you heal right.
At 305 Tattoo, we don’t just pierce — we make sure you heal beautifully. Proper aftercare is essential to avoid infection, promote smooth healing, and keep your new piercing looking fresh and flawless.
✨ What to Expect During Healing
Healing times vary depending on the type and location of your piercing, as well as your personal healing ability. Here’s a general guide:
Piercing Type | Healing Time |
|---|---|
Earlobe | 6–8 weeks |
Cartilage (helix, tragus, etc.) | 3–6 months |
Nostril | 2–4 months |
Septum | 6–8 weeks |
Eyebrow | 6–8 weeks |
Lip / Labret | 6–8 weeks |
Tongue | 4–6 weeks |
Navel | 6–12 months |
Nipple | 3–6 months |
Genital | Varies (2–6 months+) |
Note: Healing is not the same as “looking healed.” Even if it looks fine on the outside, your piercing may still be healing beneath the surface.
🧼 Daily Piercing Aftercare
1. Clean twice daily using sterile saline solution or a piercing-specific cleanser (never alcohol or hydrogen peroxide).
2. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your piercing.
3. Gently clean around the piercing with gauze or a clean cotton swab soaked in saline.
4. Pat dry with a disposable paper towel — never use fabric towels.
5. Avoid rotating or moving the jewelry during cleaning.
🚫 What NOT to Do
❌ Don’t touch or twist the piercing unnecessarily.
❌ Don’t remove or change the jewelry during the healing period.
❌ Avoid swimming in pools, oceans, or hot tubs while healing.
❌ Don’t apply creams, ointments, or alcohol-based products unless directed.
❌ Avoid sleeping on the piercing to reduce pressure and irritation.
🧠 Common Healing Signs (Normal)
Redness and slight swelling (especially the first few days)
Clear or white discharge (lymph fluid) that dries and forms a crust
Occasional itching as it heals
⚠️ Watch for Signs of Infection
Contact us or a medical professional if you notice:
Persistent pain, swelling, or redness
Yellow or green pus
Fever or chills
Excessive bleeding or warmth around the piercing
🔁 Jewelry & Check-Ins
We recommend coming back for a check-up 4–6 weeks after your piercing. We can help with:
Downsizing your jewelry (especially for oral or cartilage piercings)
Evaluating healing progress
Replacing or upgrading jewelry safely
