Tattoo Aftercare at 305 Tattoo

Because your ink deserves the best healing.

Getting a tattoo is just the beginning β€” how you care for it afterward plays a huge role in how it heals and looks for years to come. At 305 Tattoo, we give every client detailed aftercare instructions to make sure your new art heals clean, vibrant, and safely.

🩹 The Healing Process: What to Expect

The healing process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your skin, tattoo placement, and how well you follow aftercare instructions. Here’s a general breakdown:

  • Days 1–3: Your tattoo will feel like a sunburn β€” expect redness, swelling, and maybe some clear plasma or light bleeding.

  • Days 4–7: It begins to scab and peel like a mild sunburn. This is normal β€” do NOT pick or scratch!

  • Weeks 2–4: The skin may look dull or flaky, but your tattoo is healing from the inside out. Moisturizing is key.

  • After Week 4: Your tattoo should look settled. Some touch-ups may be needed after it fully heals.

🧼 Daily Aftercare Instructions

  1. Leave the bandage on for 2–4 hours (or as directed).

  2. Wash your hands, then gently clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.

  3. Pat dry with a clean paper towel β€” never rub.

  4. Apply a thin layer of unscented, tattoo-safe ointment (like Aquaphor or a tattoo balm).

  5. Repeat this process 2–3 times daily for the first week, then switch to a light, fragrance-free lotion as your tattoo begins to peel.

🚫 What to Avoid

  • No scratching, picking, or peeling β€” let your body do its thing!

  • Avoid soaking in pools, hot tubs, baths, or the ocean for at least 2–3 weeks.

  • Stay out of direct sunlight β€” UV rays can fade or damage your new tattoo.

  • No tight clothing that might rub or irritate the area.

  • Skip heavy workouts that stretch or sweat the area excessively during the first few days.

β˜€οΈ Long-Term Care = Long-Term Beauty

Even after healing, keep your tattoo looking fresh by:

  • Moisturizing regularly

  • Using SPF 30+ whenever it’s exposed to the sun

  • Staying hydrated and healthy β€” it helps your skin (and ink) stay vibrant

πŸ” Touch-Ups

Some fading or uneven healing is normal, especially for detailed or fine-line tattoos. We offer free touch-ups within a certain timeframe β€” ask your artist for details when you book.
